Concentration
Inside the brain we have millions of brain cells (neurons) sending electrical signals to each other. These are known as brainwaves. These electrical waves cause the brain to produce chemicals called neurotransmitters, such as serotonin, dopamine and adrenaline. This vast network of brain cells is fed with oxygen and other nutrients by blood from blood vessels inside the brain. In a number of mental health conditions, there is often not enough of these blood vessels and brain cells supplying oxygen and other important nutrients. This lack of oxygen and nutrients produces brainwave imbalances. Consequently the brain produces too little or too much of the chemicals it needs.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) causes new blood vessels to grow in the brain, decreases inflammation and causes the body to create new stem cells, some of which will develop into new brain cells.
For people going through addiction recovery and detox from drugs and alcohol, HBOT can potentially help to regenerate damaged tissue in the pancreas, liver, brain and other areas affected by substance abuse. The improved blood supply with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy allows greater amounts of oxygen to be transported to the brain and this helps to regulate the production of chemicals, metabolic processes, neuronal function and brainwave activity.

Restoring better balance and function within the brain with HBOT can help to:
• improve mood, mental clarity, memory and concentration
• boost energy levels, appetite and immunity
• alleviate pain, headaches and fatigue
• prevent and fight infection
What other conditions can HBOT help to treat?
